Check Your Eligibility for the 2025 Flu Vaccine Study (Age 65 and Older)

by CSL Seqirus

What is the study about?

This clinical research study is being conducted to learn more about the safety, immune response, and efficacy (protective effect) the study vaccine has on older adults. Two flu vaccines that are already approved and commonly used in adults 65 and older will be used.

Researchers want to better understand how your immune system responds—and how well each vaccine protects against the flu during the 2025–2026 season.

Who can participate?

Research site
  • 65 years or older
  • Have not received a flu shot for the 2025–2026 flu season
  • Generally in good health or with stable medical conditions. Exclusionary conditions include (but are not limited to):

    • Certain autoimmune diseases or conditions requiring immunosuppressants
    • Cancer or recent cancer treatment
    • Guillain-Barré syndrome or Multiple Sclerosis

When is the study happening?

  • Starting November 2025
  • You'll receive the flu shot during this time period
  • Within a month prior, a nearby research clinic will contact you to schedule your visit

Why participate?

Participation is a personal decision and we suggest that you speak with your doctor and family. Common reasons for participation include:

  • Help researchers improve flu protection for older adults like you
  • Receive a flu shot
  • Be part of research that could impact future flu seasons
  • Potentially receive compensation for your time and travel
  • Access physician-led research sites in your area

What does the study involve?

Research site
  • Attend 3 in-person visits (over a span of 6-8 months) at a nearby research site
  • Complete one follow-up via phone call (approx. 3 months after injection)
  • Receive a flu shot during your first visit
  • Log brief daily check-ins (it's simple!). In the event that you experience flu-like symptoms, you'll be asked to complete an electronic flu-like illness booklet (provided in an app on your phone)
  • If you experience flu-like symptoms, you will be requested to come to the research site and a nasopharyngeal swab (back of the nose) will be collected

Where does the study take place?

There are over 100 research locations across the U.S. Based on your zip code, we'll match you with the closest site, just a short drive away!

Who is running this study?
